What We Know About Spam and Why Outlook's Spam Filter Isn't Working
On Monday, you are not alone if you discover that your email inbox is overflowing with messages. Microsoft Outlook users have vented their ire online over what appears to be a problem with their spam blocker. Due to this issue, users are obtaining an excessive amount of spam that would normally be routed elsewhere.
For instance, the Twitter user @bdsams shared a screenshot of what appeared to be his mailbox, which was filled with evidently useless junk. We are discussing email addresses composed of arbitrary numbers, false security alerts, and blatant phishing attempts.
It is unclear what is causing the issue or when it might be resolved, if it can be resolved at all. Mashable reached out to Microsoft in an effort to obtain clarification and additional information; however, we did not immediately hear back from them. We will provide an update to the story whenever the business provides new information or remarks.
Tom Warren of The Verge noted that his Outlook inbox contained twenty spam messages when he awoke this morning, and that additional spam messages continued to appear throughout the day. Twitter reveals that Warren is not even close to being the only person with these sentiments.
The British novelist and historian Hallie Rubihold expressed her views on Twitter "I'm being inundated. Whoever is doing this, please stop!"
Especially when it comes to their professional lives, people's inboxes must always be kept tidy and organized. The only thing we can do is hope that additional information and a solution of some sort will become available very soon.
